Colt 1911 Long Slide

At a gun show last weekend I saw a 1911 7 inch longslide that the owner claimed was manufactured by colt. The Frame was made by colt, and was blued, while the slide apeared to be stainless steel. I think the owner was mistaken becouse first I dont think colt made 1911s with 7inch long barrels, and the slide had no markings. All the colt 1911s I have seen have the company logo and model on the left hand side of the slide. Does anyone know if colt ever made longslides? I think it was a colt frame with an AMT slide and barrel.

Sounds right--IIRC, AMT was the only builder of 7" slides; even custom-builders almost always stick to only 6" for longslides.
