Saw a real nice one but I have a question.

The front sight is fixed, normal AR sight. Will optics be interfered with by the front sight?

Say I add a scope, I don't want that front sight to stuck up in the scope.

What to do?

Also ANOTHER AR has no front sight and the gas tap has no rails for a BUIS. Do they make an attachment so you can add a rail to that naked front gas tap?

Thanks,

For all practical purposes you won't see the front sight in your scope.

They do make a barrel clamp on sight block for std flip down front sights. I think I day them at Champions Choice (?)

The arrangement you are describing is standard on all M4 carbines and M16A4 rifles in the mil. If you are installing a magnified scope, its just a matter of getting the scope base that will sufficiently elevate the scope. With a red dot (not magnified), you actually want the front sight visible. A rear folding backup iron sight can also be installed. Generally, people prefer to be able to see the irons in the lower 1/3 of a red dot optic.

In general, No.

My older son and I both prefer iron sights so we just got a bolt on carrying handle with an adjustable rear sight. Works great. Almost makes me think I'm back at Ft. Knox. And I don't have to worry about running out of CR-2032 coin cells.

My younger son has a red dot optic on a mount and the front sight post and ears are visible in the lower third of the glass, but you have to look for them to see them.

I never notice the front sight when running magnified. When I flip the magnifier out of the way the front post just works as a reference point with the red dot. On rifles running 4-9x type variable scopes you won't even see the front post except maybe as a shadow if you try really really hard.

It's a complete non issue.

Thanks guys. Looking at a Colt M4 for myself and a friend got a Bushie that had no front sight base.

Yes, the front sight interferes with the optic. It does create a blind spot and reduces the amount of light entering the optic. Whether or not it's enough to be a bother is up to you. If you buy the AR with the front sight and after shooting it decide you don't like the fron sight, you can always shave it down
