Nice revolver. I've always liked Colt Army Specials. Had one in .41 Long Colt some years back and the only reason I got rid of it was the problem in finding ammo. Of course, nowadays, the cartridge seems to be making a semi-comeback. Who the heck would've known? :banghead:
Absolutely lovely. Until recently I had a '37 Colt Official Police, which was the successor to the Army Special. I could gaze into its bluing endlessly. I wound up trading it in on a Colt SAA that is even more beautiful, if that's possible. Enjoy your Colt! Are you going to shoot it?
That is pretty, nobody blues a gun like that anymore. That was a standard revolver in it's time if I am not mistaken and it still looks nicer than anything made currently. Good Find, Bill
Thank you very much! You are right, that the bluing is much nicer than anything "Blued" today-and, this had really "impressed" me about this ARMY SPECIAL .38! The truth is, that I had never seen one of these guns-or, even one of the later Official Police revolvers in as mint of condition as this particular specimen! Whomever had owned this 1926 vintage ARMY SPECIAL revolver, evidently never shot it much at all! It's action is smooth and slick operating and it locks up as tight as a Bank Vault! I didn't think that I could have made a mistake in buying this old Colt in this great overall condition?
