Dear THR
I need to seek reviews from members who have experience with Colt Delta Elite 10mm. What are advantages and disadvantages of this pistol? What you like and dislike about this pistol?

Thanks

Ps. Do not discuss cost as its one factor not in consideration.

Mine has been near as accurate and more reliable than any other 10mm 1911 have had our dealt with. Accuracy is very close on all of them in my experience. The trigger is black and a little loose in mine. And is the only place itreally falls behind the higher end 1911s. I consider it a good gun. Ive taken white tail deer with 200 grain handloads at 1250 fps with new star line brass . With no rings or pressure signs but it does have poor case support. I only load new brass that hot though

Love mine. It's Gold Cup stainless.

It's been very reliable and accurate across several loads but I don't have a chrono and I hear folk who know better pointing out the less than expected performance from some of the factory loadings in part due to "un supported" chambers in some 10s like in the Delta.

None of my brass has been rejected by the fella that reloads 10 outa my cast offs so either; I've been lucky, none of the loads have been max power or the unsupported chamber giving folks the epizoodics isn't really so bad.

In any case. I love mine and am very happy that it finally got shot to take the NIB off of it.

Advantages:
Colt
Straight up 1911 in most ways
Easily supported in parts and modifications
Very familiar ergos and controls
Same open cary feel as my 1911s
It's a Colt!

Disadvantages:
I can't completely disregard the oft noted chamber support shortcomings
Capacity
I don't like carrying 1911s with loaded chambers - too much, anyhow

I don't know how to post links but if you click my name you can find pictures of blown cases so the problem is there if you have bad armscor brass and even a mild load. Just not a problem with good brass.

I bought one like back in 1992 and had to sell it a few years later. I really liked that pistol. I ran across a blue one from the mid 90's new in the box for 1K about a year ago and I take it out of the box to admire once in awhile. I only have a few guns that I will not part with and that being one of them.

I've had mine since 1989 and the lightest load ever fired from it was 170 grains at 1200 fps. It is without a doubt the last weapon from my collection I'd give up-I've said this for years.

I don't own one, but I've shot one extensively...

Great firearm. Trigger is crisp, action is smooth, it's accurate, and I've not seen it malfunction.

So - in the vein of real shooters of COLT 10mm guns, who's selling the best mags out there?

My only real slow down in shooting it more is magazines and fresh brass of quality.

I just put money down on one

MY LGS had it for $800 with one mag and no box. I was wondering if it is worth it. It is the stainless version and has an idiot scratch. Other than that it looks to be in great shape.

One of my main carries, you can also hunt with it in Okla. This one was customized by Chuck Warner. It for sure will be passed down after I'm gone. For $800, I would be all over that.

How can you tell

an older gun from the newer ones reintroduced in 2009?
