Colts had some drawbacks compared with S&W (some folks would reverse that), but they were all well made and the best there were. The Colt PP and S&W M&P were the quintessential "cop guns" of the 1920's and 1930's; every movie had to have its car chase with the "bubble gum machine" flashing and siren screaming, with the cop leaning out the window with his Police Positive or S&W, firing at the escaping bad guys. I always wondered if they hit anything, but if the cop missed, it was his fault (or the script); it wasn't the Colt.
