Just found one in a local shop. Anybody had one or shot one? Any reports good or bad? I really liked it for pocket carry but just don't know much about them.

Had one and sold it about 6 months for no good reason other that I am stupid and couldn't find a paddle holster for it, did I mention I was stupid. Mine was customized much like the ones from McDougal, had the tang bobbed and all edges rounded some internal work that I can't remember. Anyway got 700 dollars for it. In answer to your question it shot great very reliable, as you know good size and weight for a 380. Good luck with yours.

They're good. Is it a Pocketlite? Colt still does work on them if you have a problem. After 9 years mine is starting to have a fail-to-eject problem that I can't tune out with the extractor. That's not bad service.

The only thing is the cost. I bought mine new for $426 at 10% off full retail price. Today they cost as much as two Ruger LCP, or three KelTec, or almost as much as a Rohrbaugh 9mm.

I perfer the Colt Mustang over the Colt Pony.

From when I played with one many years back, the Colt Pony had a long heavy double action trigger pull. IMO, the Kel-Tec P-32 has a better trigger pull than the Pony.

Like Quiet posted, I prefer my Colt Mustang as well. I also thought that the Pony's DA trigger pull was a little too heavy with a fair amount of overtravel. Still a very nice design; I would love to see Colt (or anybody else for that matter), do a little more refinement to it, and bring it out again with an alloy frame. Especially when I see older used Colt Government .380's and its brethren going for $700 and up, these days.

Colt Pony - had one for several years and experienced lots of issues that I felt made it inappropriate for SD/BUG carry.

Magazine often popped out due to light pressure required to depress mag catch. Noticed same problem on other Ponies.

Slide to frame-fit rattle.

13 lb LONG trigger pull, can make marksmanship difficult.

Trigger pinch

Trigger hinge pin walks and when it walks out one side (total distance is about 1/16"), trigger is disabled and getting pin back in is a bit of a pain the butt and can take a couple of minutes (not good for reliability of a fighting gun)

If I had to do it again, I would go with a Mustang.

Bought one like that several years ago. My only complaint about it is that really heavy trigger pull which caused me to not shot it much.

Colt Pony Pocketlite

Hi, I've had my Pony Pocketite for a while now and I take it to the range regularly (twice a month at least and put probably 100 rounds through it and the Colt Government 380) and have no complaints on their performance at all (they both always go bang when I pull the trigger). I agree the Pony has a hevy and long trigger pull but for ccw carry I prefer that for safety reasons. I really like the Pony and yes they are expensive and going up all the time.
Regards,
JimK
Sorry about the pic, but it has the Pony and Government 380's as well as the P232 and S&W 38 snubby as well.
