Hi,
I've got a Colt Service Ave Conversion with the floating chamber.

It is mounted on a Norenco 1911 frame, as a .45 acp it is a very dependable pistol.

With the Colt conversion unit the very best it will do is 97%, the stoppages are usually ejection related, with the empty case not ejected clear of the pistol, the case is caught between the slide and the barrel, and ejection direction is not consistent when It does work.

It came with a stamped cheap looking ejector, and I have bought a milled ejector, which took 3 hours with a dremmil to make fit, and it works marginally better. There seems to be 2 stamped type, one just bent 90°, one twisted.

Why the 2 different ejectors, and which is supposed to be better?

I noticed the stamped are much more expensive(?)

Thanks,
John

The really irritating part is I gave my nephew a Ceiner kit that I got cheaply at a gun show that was 100%, and my Ruger mk2 is 100% and way more accurate...... But I always wanted the Colt with the floating chamber!!!
