Colt Special Combat 1911 Government

I was looking around in a gun store today during my lunch break when I saw a used Colt Special Combat Government. It was all blue and not one of the current models offered today.

It had factory night sights, and the bluing was gorgeous. Overall condition looked to be excellent.

Some research lead me to info about this model: it is the SCG Carry which was offered by Colt in the early 90s for a limited run.

The gun store was asking $995 plus tax. Does anyone know if this is a good price? (It is a series 80 gun).

It's an excellent price and you'd better grab it. They retail for ~$1475.00 and that's what I paid for mine. Mine is a 38 Super and very accurate. Check this out.

This is one of many "limited runs for a distributor order" models that Colt was producing in the 1990s. A new-production, equivalent Colt model, factoring in the night sights, will easily cost you $995 or more. If you really, reallylike it, buy it while you still have money. It also can't hurt to try and talk him down.
