I'm troubled by this for a variety of reasons. Not only have I considered my 6920 the AR standard (guess it's going to become a collectible), but I also don't buy their public statement on the matter, claiming they did it because the market no longer supports it economically.

As someone who uses both regularly, there are miniscule differences between civilian grade and MIL/LEO models. I believe instead this is about the pressure the company is facing and the social activism it is proactively trying to insulate itself from, that other AR15 manufacturers have faced.

Thoughts?

The market is saturated, supply is greater than CURRENT demand and Colt's product is priced higher than the competition.
Add to this the easily built ARs from stripped receivers making a custom gun for less than a Colt.
