NYC Mayor Bloomberg's MAIG bus tour is stopping at Columbus, Ohio again to try to get Senator Portman to change his vote to support their new gun control agenda.

OHIO Columbus What: Ohio Gun Owners to Gather to Call on Senator Portman to Support Common-Sense Background Checks Where: 37 West Broad St, Columbus, OH When: Friday, August 30, 12:00 PM

Be aware- they know that we arrive open-carrying to protest. Their new tactic is to claim that all of us gun owners who show up with our guns on display are actually supporters of their gun control schemes and that all of us are actually together.

WRONG!

Cordially inviting anybody in the area who want to show their support AGAINST MAIG and Bloomberg to stop by and join us.

Please be aware that there will be media, and that we are representing ourselves as we are- normal, responsible, calm, and freedom-loving Americans. Bring flags, well-written signs, and a good non-confrontational attitude and let's show them we won't be a part of their plans.

BIGGER SIGNS. Make sure any pictures/cameras can clearly see you are NOT with them. Spread the word around local gunshops, Cabelas, etc. Get as many people to go as you can.

Good luck, hope to get an after action report.

Signs can be cropped out of a pictures.

Hats or buttons with Mayors Against Illegal Guns inside the universal NO symbol are much harder to edit out of a picture.

MAIG moved their location on us...
But guns rights groups are planning to make their voices heard, too, at the nooner at McPherson Commons (Arch Park), 218 West St. near Nationwide Arena. (The event originally was scheduled for outside Portman's Columbus office on West Broad Street.)

Same time.

They are trying to keep us out. Last time they reserved a park and did not allow pro groups to show.

OC is too subtle for public political opposition.

Signs are what makes the news and makes a difference. OC can be viewed just as posturing.

Make signs, with messages that are clean, clear, brief. Work together to chant the message. "Stay in New York City" should be chanted in unison over and over again or borrow from the old salsa commercial "Nue York CITY?!" so you have a hook that points out that these are foreign ideas endemic to someplace out of touch with the rest of America.

MAIG said they had ten people there but I counted six; there were more bike cops there. Our side had 92 people by my count. Thanks for the NRA for giving us signs and badges and support, and to all who came by, including Columbus PD for their discreet oversight and assistance, and everyone who drove past waving, honking and giving thumbs-up signs.

What started out as a protest against Ohio Sen. Rob Portman turned into a 2nd Amendment rally in the Arena District Friday.

Outstanding!

This is an important lesson for every community the MAIG/Bloomberg crowd goes to.

This was set in the heart of Columbus' Arena District, where the Blue Jackets' ice rink, the Clippers ballpark, a large theatre, and a bunch of very posh eateries, shops and loft apartments are located.
Still under a lot of construction as they continue to redevelop the area.

After we basically took over the event and the MAIG folks tucked their tails between their legs, a lot of use stayed another extra hour to walk post along Nationwide Blvd. with our OC pistols and long guns and our signs. The support from passers-by in the form of waves, honks, thumb's-up, fist pumping, etc. was about one in three. Several individual and groups of walkers on the sidewalk stopped to talk, sometimes to ask if it was legal to be carrying guns on the street, sometimes to show support, once or twice to tell us how terrible we were to have guns. All were treated politely and respectfully.

The funny thing is, the MAIG people are 'professional' organizers supported by a billionaire, but we are a bunch of gun owners and freedom lovers who- in some cases- took the day off or left early from work, drove hundreds of miles round trip, and showed our support with a grand total of like three days notice, AT OUR OWN EXPENSE, and they even tried to change the venue on us. And still we exceeded a 10:1 ratio.

The Democratic Underground site predictably calls us a bunch of NRA Shills and tea-bag astroturfers. Heh. What do they know.
