I just receivied my McDaniel II holster for my P2000 from Sam Andrews. I have another one of his holsters that I used for many years. It has held up very well, even after many years of service. When it came time to choose one for my P2000, it was a no-brainer.

Since I've seen size comparison discussions around here with regards to CCW, I figured comparing the holstered P2000 to the holstered P239 would be helpful. Since we are dealing with the same exact holster design, this is a bit more of a balanced comparison.

While there are pros and cons for both pistols, I have to point out the following:

While they both have similar overall size specs on paper, the P239 still feels slimmer. It feels slimmer in the hand, and also inside the waistband. That being said, it could be that the newer holster for the P2000 is not yet broken in, the leather being slightly thicker at the present time than the 10 year old P239 holster.

The grip of the P239 is shorter. I love this aspect when it comes to IWB carry. The shorter the grip the less bulge/ less conspicuous the handgun carries. The grip circumference is smaller, which feels better in my hands, as well as those with a somewhat smaller hand size. The P2000 comes very close, but the 239 wins.

I perceive the P2000 was being wider in both the grip and the slide. These are very minute differences, but I can notice the difference. That is probably due to the fact that I have grown very fond of the P239 over the past 10 years. Not that the P2000 is bad, it's just a different overall feel.

I am looking forward to developing a strong, loving, reciprocating relationship with the P2000 and maybe one day it will replace my P239 as my IWB pistol of choice. :D Now, if I had to pick and choose one right now, it would be the SIG. That pistol and I just get along very well out to 25 yards. For me personally, that particular bond far outweighs the capcacity advantage offered by the P2000. Others may feel differently...

Here's some comparison pics. The P239 has the threaded barrel installed (1/2" longer barrel than usual), but I believe these photos offer a good reference nonetheless:
