Hello everyone! I have been a member of The Highroad for a while...not very active (my bad). I was browsing the site this morning and came across this forum. I thought of the recent Allies and Axis contest that my friends and I had this September. Listed below are the results...

THE "AXIS & ALLIES" CONTEST IS OVER! The results were interesting, but, you can relax, I don't have to rewrite history...…………..
Cool 38 degree temperatures & a trace of snow on the range was not my favourite scene, but, the contest was held as planned. 25 yard pistol targets were pressed into service at 100 yards with ten rounds fired (rested) by the three entrants ……..This was a CAST BULLET ONLY CONTEST , with "as issue" WW-2 battle rifles...…....……………...At 100 yds, all I can see well is the 5 1/2" black, so my early 1903 springfield sights were adjusted accordingly. Highest possible score would be 100. I was relieved to see all ten of my shots in the black. This gave me first place with a 3 3/8" group scoring an "88". My friends entered a 1943 mosin 91/30, (second place) scoring a "72". & last , (shock!) was my younger veteran friend of the Iraqi war coming in third with a score of 60...…….He's 35 years old) .He shoots better than that generally with his K-98 mauser, But, I think he rushed his shots , wore gloves, (practiced without them), & just not prepared to take on a superior American product with his "barleycorn" sights.
HISTORY IS SAFE FOR THE MOMENT, BUT ILL BE KEEPING AN EYE ON THE REARVIEW MIRROR NEXT YEAR!...………………….CHEERS!
I attached my target picture. ( Don't know what happened with the flyer.) Open iron sights...bad eyes.
As you can see it was a fun time! I was the second place winner with the old Mosin Nagant. My friend also did a 1911 shoot at a hundred yards in October...we won't talk about the results on that one.
Just thought I would share this story.
Happy Shooting!
