Considering a M16 A2 clone build

I found out that I was wrong about my a1 build - I put an a2 stock on it.
Incorrect, I know now, but it fits me better than an a1 would.
Anyway, it's what came with the parts kit.
Close enough... .
I actually like the A1 look more than the A2 so I'm probably going to go more in that direction. It won't be a 100% A1 but like you said, close enough (for me).

Do you shoot right handed or left handed?

The A1 without the Bruton bump is not all that friendly to left handed shooters. I have scars still to prove it.

Ooh, that's rough.

Yes it is.

@kje54, depending on how much stronger your left eye is compared to your right eye, you might want to try shooting left handed. I know it will be awkward at first, but you might shoot more accurately left handed.

I am right handed and left eye dominant. My left eye is quite a bit stronger than my right eye and I learned at an early age to shoot left handed. I also test new shooter to see which eye is dominant and have them shoot from that side. We did this in the military too.

Unfortunately I have developed astigmatism in both eyes, the right not being as bad as the left. Yes, I tried shooting long arms left handed a while back and awkward wasn't the appropriate word, it wasn't descriptive enough........ I was left handed until I started school, Catholic school........ being left handed was akin to being the spawn of the devil back then. My mom finally pulled me out of catholic school when she was told they wouldn't use my first name because it wasn't an appropriate Roman Catholic name, that was second grade.

Astigmatism is no fun to have. Mine is not so bad that I can't use red dot sights with my glasses on as long as I keep the brightness turned down.

We make do and adapt no matter if we were born with disabilities, have injuries, or old age is catching up with us.

Agree. When I was an instructor, we tested each student for dominate eye first and taught them to shoot from that side. Some of the dad taught had a hard time. I recall one student that did shoot very well on the wrong side because he shot all the time and adapted.

That was me. I shot from my right all my life and didn't know I was left eye dominant until I was in my late 40s. I did discover then that I was much better shooting handguns left handed but I could never shoot a long arm left handed no matter how I tried.
