Convert a 10/22 to a pistol?

I believe ,but am not sure, that you have to start with a virgin reciever.

If the reciever was ever left the factory as a rifle you would be making a SBR and need to get the proper permissions.

But I'm just recounting something I remember from a similar thread a great while back

The threads have been tested with both the FBI VUDU™ Suppressor and Tactical Innovations, Inc TAC65 Suppressor.
But then again it may be for an AOW project anyway

NICE! How do ya get a receiver that has never been in a 10/22 rifle to build one? I have seen them at gunbroker.com, but they do not say if they were ever part of a rifle. Also, how do you get a stock for a 10/22 pistol? I can't find one online.

You can get a reciever through Ruger, brownell's, and the other aftermarket manufacturers (MOA, Volquartsen, Force, etc).
Make sure you have the dealer give you documentation as to the condition of the reciever as it was sold to you.
And as always, when in doubt call or email the BATF.

As far as handles, I don't know of anyone making them so you'd have to fabricate your own.

IMHO its not worth the trouble. You could buy a better shooting, more compact, and more reliable pistol for the same money (probably cheaper) and not have to worry about inadvertently breaking laws.

Just out of morbid curiosity, has anyone done this type of conversion with a mini 14? I would imagine that the 223 would not make a good pistol round.

Nope. It sucks as a pistol cartridge.

I would imagine that the 223 would not make a good pistol round.

It can be done, at great trouble and expense. Or you could just buy a Savage Striker and have a more accurate, tho' slower rate of fire, pistol.

And my Contender seems to think the 223 makes a dandy pistol round. :neener:
