Picked up a Para P16-40 for cheap. Had all the springs changed and now my wife is in love with the gun. She's fairly new to shooting and is left handed. The gun has ambi extended safety and I just got a couple of ambi extended slide releases from Sarco. Now, the only thing left to be done is to get a left hand mag release. It now has an extended large button for right hand shooters and would like to get the same for the other side. I won't be shooting the gun so it can be a dedicated left hand mag release. I've seen an ambi mag release by Smith and Alexander. Does it work well? Can it be tapped to install a large button for left handers? I've heard of switching a normal mag release to the other side and then machine a cut on the opposite side of the magazines for the mag catch. Any one famaliar with this? Need to hear from anybody who has done this.
