Does anyone know why this was discontinued? Too hot? Looking at the reloading manuals I have, it seems difficult to match without going over max loads.

It out classed most 30-30 loads except maybe the Leverevolution. I killed a couple deer with it out of my CZ527. The discontinuation of this round is part of the reason I sold that rifle, since I did not reload at the time.

Does anyone know what bullet it used? I might get a Howa mini in X39 if I could load something similar to this.

the reloading books are sammi spec the x39 is cip witch is hotter, they probably used a 24'' barrel to. it does not seam corbon keeps any loads long. i think they were just speer bullets. if you want a heavy hunting round get the tula 154 sp cheap and hits hard.

Never seen it available either, but I think it’s kind of curious how there is literally only one heavy grain x39 load available (and it's from Tula of all companies, famed purveyors of boutique ammunition...)

I get it, most x39s are blasting guns and the tiny case doesn't leave you a lot of room to be creative, but they are popular enough for hunting that you think someone would make a heavy load.

I've been able to get 2250 out of 160 FTX bullets over RL-7. Very accurate and very effective on whitetails inside of 200 yards with hardly any recoil. I've started a few new hunters out on that combination and they have cleanly taken their first deer (and second) with it.

You could duplicate that Cor-bon load with Speer 150 Hot-Cor bullets and RL-7 powder.

If you're willing to load 123 grain SST's, it's pretty simple to get 2500 fps. out of them with CFE BLK powder. That's also a very effective deer round.
