So the basic answer is obvious. While there are people that support him, most of Bloomberg's "grass roots" are bought and paid for by his billions. On our side we have, what? Four to five million NRA members, and a great many more times that number of gun owners overall? If everyone chips in, it's not going to break anyone's bank account to match the would-be king's numbers.
So now the discussion and planning part, the details. First and foremost:
Where should you donate your $$$ to have the maximum impact? Preferably against whatever Mike specifically has in mind, if he's laid out detailed plans yet.
Donating to just the "NRA" would probably be about the worst thing to do - ironically. Bloomberg calls his latest initiative "Every Town for Gun Safety," and NRA does teach gun safety. But gun safety to Bloomberg is buying politicians that subscribe to his elitist, gun-hating views.
So to me it's down to the NRA-ILA or NRA-PVF. Being a major midterm year, my gut tells me to go with the PVF. I have a hard time seeing the current Congress taking a stab at anything, but Bloomberg has plenty of $$$ to try and grease the works.
And how about local stuff too? I live in NC. We've made some great 2A strides since ending many decades of Democrat rule in the State. However, our current leaders have also managed to earn the ire of...EVERYONE in the State for something or the other. Not sure how much of a priority rolling back our pro-gun gains are to the State Democrat machine, but IMO it will be inevitable should they regain control of the general assembly.
I would probably add one more question as well, how to try to make sure that the "everyone" I mentioned above helps do their part. IMO:
1) Get out the word about the threat
2) Answer the first question to have a concrete reply when they hopefully ask, "great, so what do I need to do?"
I'd say our side won an early skirmish, as a pro-gun person took the Facebook page with the name of Bloomberg's latest project: https://www.facebook.com/Everytownforgunsafety Could also be informative, to see how dirty Mike's willing to play. Or not - I read a comment from an anti that he's just going to change the name of his current FB group, "Demand Action." Which honestly would make more sense, you'd have your community already established.
