I have a Series One Kimber that has served me well through 30,000 rds of bowling pins and Bianchi-style plate competitions.
My eyes have aged and I need more light around the front sight, particularly in notch depth. However, as those of you familiar with the Kimber adjustable cut know "pickens is slim", at least relative to the Kimber fixed sight cut and those of other gun manufacturers.
Champion and Dawson make quality adjustable cut rear sights but not to the dimensions I would prefer: specifically .135-.145W x .120 D.
And I've never had the good fortune to own a Kimber sight equal in quality to their guns.
Warren Tactical makes a great tactical sight with dimensions very close to what I'm after and I would buy a set instantly if they made one for the Kimber-- sadly they don't.
Filing an existing sight is NOT an option-- I'm not good at it and my aging eyes still pick up the tiniest irregularity, which pose a constant distraction. Not many shops of any kind are willing to work on, or mill out, a finished sight.
Long story short: anyone know a reliable manufacturer/machine shop/or gunsmith with whom I could work?
