I am thinking of building a custom rifle and was looking to get some opinions on available actions. I am a lefty so what ever action I select will need to be left handed.

Won't go with a factory action they end up costing just as much in the end as a custom. Thinking about Nesika

i'm seriously considering putting a stiller predator on an AI stock in 338 lm but i dunno. i'm giving myself another 2 months to decide

GA Precision has their own action (GAP 7000).. I have one it is real real nice...Made by Lawton Machine.
nesika is good stuff, but heavy. for a br or long range varminter, that's fine. for a hunting rifle, you're gonna end up sacrificing on barrel to keep the works portable.

My hunting rifle right now weighs 16 pounds with optics. It is a Nesika model K in 300 wsm. I pack it through the Colorado mountains every year elk hunting so weight is not an issue. I really like it but have heard some rumors about Nesika being in Chapter 11. As far as I am concerned a falling block is not practical. This gun will probably be a Varmint rig in 6-250 left bolt right port. Whatever I buy action wise will have to be compatible with a G&E trigger.

What do you guys discuss here if it is not rifles. I forget the source but I heard that the only interesting rifles were accurate one's. Before any body gets offended I am not saying that there are no accurate factory guns. But in my opinion it always comes back to you get what you pay for. My wife's gun started out as factory model 70. By the time you make it shoot (consistent sub 3/4 minute of angle) it costs almost as much as a custom gun and you have the pile of parts to remind you of your mistake.

I don't think this is who I am thinking of. I have heard some rumors that Glenn on of the founders of Nesika is now up there and building rifles again. If he is and his stuff is like the old Polusbo quality that will be my new action.

Stiller brand actions. I think the Predator model is made for hunting. I have not used one yet but from all reports it is a very nice action for the price. It's based off the Rem 700 and fit Remingtons stock, but the action is much more refined. Stiller is known for making benchrest actions.
I had two Montana Rifle Company actions. (Long story there) While most people liked them I had a lot of trouble with both of mine. The action was also very roughly finished and not very square. It was also a very heavy action. Resale was also very poor. Unless you are building a left handed dangerous game rifle, I would look elsewhere.
You'll get much better value going with a custom action from Stiller or Nesika and good smith. Also, you'll get an excellent product you don't have to worry about.
