I got two CVA .45 cal. Hawken rifles, both were kinda given to me cause neither of their owners knew how to put them together. I finished the job by buying $50 of parts and they turn out pretty good. CVA doesn't really say what a max load is? I have 3F and 2F in Goex, Pyrodex and 777. I have shot them both with RB and 75 grains of 2F Goex.
Now the question is, I'm starting to run low on Goex, so what charges and powders should I be looking at for Deer hunting?
Also, I understand these rifles are 1:48 twist and that should handle a bullet or sabot. I saw on U-tube a guy shooting a .45 cal bullet over a wool felt wad. I have a .45acp mold for 230 grain Lee .452, 2 bullet mold. Will that work at
what charge? I might go to my favorite gun shop and see what I can find in the way of sabots and powder. Saw some there about a month ago. Suggestions or comments.
