Just bought a CZ 527 Carbine in 7.62x39. Very nice looking rifle, a free-floated barrel. But here comes a big problem: cannot install my favorite scopes on it, even with high rings. :banghead:The rear iron sight is bumping into the scope bell. So I am considering either to sell the carbine while it is unfired or removing the iron sights. Does anyone know of a way to remove the blade of the rear sight? Is there a specific sight pusher that I should know about? Any gunsmiths working on CZ?:uhoh:
TIA

Just use a drift pin of some sort and a hammer to knock it out sideways

I ran vintage low pro redifelds on my CZ carbine with high burris rings and had no such problems

I have a Saige 7.63x39 converted to ak47 configuration I'll trade you for you CZ. That'll solve your problem! OR.........
I have a similar problem with mounting a scope on my M69 Trainer. I have to either move the scope forward a touch to keep it from interfering with the rear sight or I have to mount it extra high. I would suggest mounting on of the scope that doesn't have the large front bell. You shouldn't need that much magnification for a 7.62 rifle anyhow. It loses a lot of effectiveness after about 200 yards.

Check out this link to Mad Ogre's website; He claims he has found the "Perfect" scope for this very rifle; Here is the link for you to the entire article and a photo from same.

" If it says, BSA, then run away" my quote, credited to me.
totally agree with the above dude.
One question; are you using CZ factory hi mount bases/rings? cuz they are
really tailor made for your problem. If not, get them, or drift out the rear sight.
slop a little penetrating lube on it first; will come out nice and easy then.

I am not a BSA fan either but to be fair, let me analogize;

Would you guys buy Black & Decker tools? Me either, I would choose DeWalt over many of the "Discount" or "Cheap" brands; You know something funny? The are made by the same company, they make two different levels or "qualities" of tools if you will.

I think this may be the case with BSA/Vortex. I found Krocus's comment to be somewhat snide and flippant but I let it go. Look, I think BSA is a piece of crap too but the Vortex warranty (Unlimited , no BS, Lifetime) may warrant a look. Many of the reviews I have read on them have been positive.

By the way, not EVERYONE can afford Redfield rings and Burris scopes :evil:

I apoligse for coming across as flippant.

We've all gone through our cheap optics phase after awhile most of us find out just how terrible cheap optics are. Just like you'll find that ex smokers can be repulsed the most smoking and related odors us cheap-o scope converts from cheap optics are equally disgusted by anything out of China.

There are lots high value optically supurb lower priced optics from Japan, Phillipnes, Korea or even Russia. However from my experience thus far NO such scope has came out of China.

You may not be able to tell if a scope is good or not by where it's made. But in the case of China you can certianlly tell if it's going to be bad

To use your analogy Chinese made optics are the equivalent to a sawzall made by Lucas Electrics.

Thanks for all the replies, gents. I have a Weaver V24 6-24x42 and Bushnell Elite 4200 6-24x40, neither of which will fit the Carbine with iron sights on, even when I use high Millett rings. I need at least x24 magnification to shoot at 100 yards. BTW, I have an old Japanese Simmons 8-32x44, which fits my CZ 453 perfectly. So, I guess I will need to sell this carbine.
Any buyers? It is brand-new and unfired. I paid $607.

Good lord both those scopes are HUGE no wonder the won't fit. You're not mounting a scope to the rifle, you're mounting a rifle to the bottom of your scope.;

I need at least x24 magnification to shoot at 100 yards.

are you blind? Most myself included consider 6X more than adequate for 100yd precision target shootin

Ironically I traded my CZ 527 in 7.62x39 for a Leupold 36X scope. But at least that went on a 20lb bench rifle

The cz carbine is a wonderful rifle, I have both .223 and x39. But I would never put more than 4x on one.

I once had a CZ 527 Carbine. I used a Bushnell Legend 2-7x32 scope on it, and I thought that was about right. Still, though, I had to use Warne high rings to make sure the bolt handle didn't strike the eyepiece. I never encountered problems witht he ocular bell bumping the rear iron sight.

Try a picatinny rail

I have a 527 carbine with a leoupold 2x7 compact mounted on standard mounts, but I am thinking about changing my set up. A guy at work sold all his guns when his family had a medical crisis and he gave me all of his accessories and ammo he had left over. One item was a picatinny rail which I assume was for his DPMS Flat-top, it has grove clamps which appear to fit my groves and will raise the scope higher than the standard bases and let me use weaver type ring-mounts. I am having a friend at work's husband machine out an area over the ejection port and drill holes cross wise. It will work as it is but it is a heavy chunk of aluminum so I want it lighter. I plan to mount a 45 degree red-dot system for snap shots on deer along with the 2-7 leoupold for more precise shots.

All that being said try a picatinny rail for an ar flat-top.

again, let me state that you should get cz factory high rings. I have 2 carbines, both with massive scopes , such as yours, Tasco varmint 6x24's, and they both fit, with the CZ hi mounts/ rings.
Why would you give up so fast on that rifle. proly the lightest , handiest rifle ever made? You do know it has a set trigger as well, don't you? you push it forward, hear it and feel it go 'click', then when you get ready to pull the trigger, you just lightened the pull by about 80%.

I drifted the rear sight out of my LUX and have had no issues.

Oh. I did have my gunsmith recontour the bolt handle to clear on medium rings. I like the way it fits me.

It now has a 30mm scope on it with a relatively large ocular lens bell. It clears just fine, although now the bolt seems a bit short! Anyways, it works.

Well, I was wounded in my right eye in the Middle East and had a surgery that left me with 30-50% vision and a need to have complex special glasses. Left eye is fine and I use it when I shoot pistols. I qualify as master in IDPA. I am strongly right-handed and shoot my CZ 453 with 8-32x44 Simmons in club matches using right eye just fine.
So that is why I need a strong optics on my rifle.
