What is the consensus here?

I have a chance to buy one. I sort of want one. Not urgent but I also have some cash... I don’t own a full size 9mm... Other desires also at play...but if real people say it is as good as the press, then I just might buy it...

What say you all...

Greg

Get it... I have both the of the CZs that's in bannockburn's pic and the Urban Grey CZ P01 4" with the threaded barrel and suppressor sights... I'll also will be adding more in the future.

I have an SP-01 Tactical (the decocker version). The regular SP-01 has a safety instead of the decocker. My SP-01 Tactical is my favorite handgun. Easy to shoot, not much muzzle flip, insanely accurate, reliable and feels solid enough to survive anything. Not to mention its good looks.

I also have a RAMI BD (the decocker version) that I like. It's not as nice to shoot as the SP-01, but still a good gun. And it's almost exactly the same size as a Glock 26/27, and fits in many of the 26/27 holsters.

Absolutely buy it is my recommendation. I don't own one, but I want to get one someday because I want a full-size metal CZ with a rail (otherwise my 85 Combat with a bunch of Cajun Gun Works parts would have me covered perfectly and I wouldn't "need" the SP-01). Like my other CZs, it'll get some CGW parts within days of arrival to my house. :)

Comparative sizes...

OK,
Yes. I like it.
I noted that it isn’t a carry gun. I use a G26 almost exclusively except the few times I use a 1911...which is kinda heavy too...
The primary purpose for it is, we’ll just because. IDPA if/when I get a chance. My wife to have a defense gun if SHTF. Point and shoot: no recoil, everything set up, bad guy incapacitated.

Thanks for the comments. I guess I’ll get my 2nd Commie gun (Norinco SKS).

Greg

CZ makes totally worthy pistols. But if you don't need the rail, the classic CZ-75 or CZ-75 Compact are a couple of the best-looking pistols ever made ... with superb ergos, typically above average accuracy OOB, and always, totally reliable with any production ammo.

CZ 75 SP-01 , CZ 75 Tactical , Shadow 2 and CZ 75 Compact.

The CZ 75 SP-01 is one of my favorite SA/DA pistols of all of my Guns I have ever had.

The Cajun Gunworks spring kit is what I use in 3 of my CZ pistols. The Shadow 2 doesn’t need one.

The CZ 75 SP-01 is amazing.

CZ's are not big on full page ads in the gun mags so their marketing skills are not so great. Try a CZ. A CZ isn't spectacular on any one thing but they are so good at everything it more than makes up the difference.

Yep, many of the really niece guns do not have to spend millions in advertising dollars. They just walk the walk. Congrats to all that own these fine Pistols. When my brother got married. His future wife owned a CZ, Told me, it sealed the Deal.(Smart Lady)

I rented an sp101 and instantly loved it! It’s such a sweet shooter and very accurate it felt great.

I’ve been hunting for a p01 Omega trigger in black for like two years now. Ha! Take my dang money cz!

Ok, so how about CZ SP01 Tactical vs. CZ SP01 Phantom vs. CZ P09?

Obviously these aren't just three random pistols, but they are very, very closely related. But which one is more appealing and why?

The Tactical is the metal one, the Phantom is almost exactly the same but with a polymer frame, and the P09 is a different polymer frame but still a DA/SA with an Omega trigger and decocker.

I have the tactical and Phantom. Both have very similar geometry and feel very similar in my hand. The P09 has a different geometry and feel and I prefer the original, most likely because that’s what I’m used too. If I started with the P09 I might think differently.

The heavier tactical helps with recoil and muzzle flip but as I get older the lighter Phantom gets more and more use and gets the bulk of my practice time.

I bought a 75b several years ago just because I wanted to try one out. It's become my nightstand gun, so in hindsight I wish I had gotten a SP01 instead so I could add a light.

One of the best pistols you can buy. If you send them at Cajun Gun works or CZ custom, you will forever love it even more.

I have some thoughts on this, but to be clear since I only rented these guns take what I say with a grain of salt.

If I wasn't going to be wearing one on my hip as a duty pistol, I'd get the tactical. They are all too big to realistically CC and the extra weight made a positive difference while shooting. Plus, in person I liked it the best aesthetically.

If you prefer one of the polymer ones:

For the Phantom vs P09, two things two consider:
1. Is being able to swap from decocker to safety important to you? P09 then for sure.
2. What about magazine compatibility? Do you own a p07? If so you could use P09 mags in it. If not, the Phantom can make use of the CZ-75 mags (I think?).
