I got it on 05/28/08 and shot it yesterday. There is a bit of pull after the sear engagement and it's keeping me from shooting accurately. I dont think it would be that big of a problem if the sear and hammer hook smoothed out. Ive only put 75 rounds through it and might take it out again today. I also got to shoot a H&K USP 45 Tactical and I was getting one hole groupings at 7 yards. Not cloverleaf, but one hole. It felt blocky in my hand and had a bit of muzzle flip for me but boy was it accurate (for me).

edit to add that ammo was Blazer Aluminum 115gr. No malfunctions straight out of the box.

7 yards
10 shot groups on left and right, 5 shots on others

I think it's horrible.

Out of the goodness of my heart, I am willing to rescue you from your horrible fate. Just sent that "horrible" SA to sixgunner455, and it will no longer be a problem.

And my SA will have a younger brother to play with in the safe.

Now seriously. If the trigger is causing you problems, then get it fixed. There are plenty of people out there that work on them. czforums has people that can tell you exactly who to send it to for a trigger job.

One can never have too much "practice".
I shoot a Glock 19/26 better and with less than 25 rounds practice time with each. Im gonna put a few more hundred rounds through it to see if the sear/hammer rubbing improves.

the CZ75SA is a great little gun..as it comes from the factory..

The the Firing Pin Block and the factory hammer..trigger pull can have bit of creep and weight..

The gun has the potential to have a really nice 1.5# to 2# trigger with very little pretravel and overtravel in the trigger.
changing springs, a little polish here and there..and recutting the hammer hooks will greatly improve the 75SAs potential.

enjoy the gun..its one of my favorites.

Who would be the best person to send it to? Would you rank Mike @ CZ-USA high on the list? I work 2 blocks down from them so I might be able to drop it off.

my own personal experience has been with Angus, Matt Mink and my own now..

but I have heard good things about Mike Eagleshield and Jim Miossi for triggers as well..if he is that close..you are set..

Two blocks away? I'd sure give Mike a try. I've read good things about him on the CZ forum.

Here's a target I shot recently with some of my reloads. 5 shots, two hand hold at 7 yards with my CZ Compact (9mm) after doing the trigger job I found on the CZ Forum http://czechpistols82792.yuku.com/forums/59

I hope you end up enjoying your CZ as much as I enjoy mine.

Ive put a few more hundred rounds through it and trigger hasnt changed although I shoot it a little better. I can knock out the 10 in the first target with about 15 rounds. What should I ask for when sending it to a smith? I see that Miossi Gun Works charges $295 for an action job and hard sear.

edit

$295 - Action Job with Miossi Gun Works Custom Hard Sear labor only
$25 - Fit Angus SA Trigger
$35 - Install sights labor only
$40 - CZ Single Action Trigger, Black Steel
$55 - CZ Competition Hammer
$45 - CZ Tactical Rear Sight
$30 - CZ Competiton Front Sight FULL
-----------------------------------------
$525

Wow! $525!

On top of what you paid for the gun, conservatively you'll wind up with $975 into it. Whhhhhoooooosh!

Personally, I would just have someone recut the angles on the hammer and sear and shorten the hammer hooks. If you want the working/friction parts polished they are easy to do yourself.

You have an SA with an SA trigger , so I'd pass on the other SA trigger. I'd skip the comp hammer as well.
It's hard to argue with upgrading the sights, but for range work the stock economy "night sights" are adequate.

Just my opinion. I don't think any CZ 75B SA is worth $1000. You could spend $750 and pick up a CZ-UB Shadow from CZ Custom Shop and it'd have everything you are looking for and more, out of the box!!!!
Take this opportunity to learn and do for yourself. There is limitless help and advice available here and elsewhere online.

I know Matt and Angus can get you a pretty sweet trigger if you want to send it out..

There is no real mystery to doing a single action trigger..it is pretty straight forward..you can get a pretty nice single action trigger with the factory parts..The delrin trigger is adequate..and will work fine.as suggested..if you recut the hammer hooks to square them up, cut them a little shorter and the cut a secondary angle onto the sear you will have something bordering great. it will be better if you remove the FPB, if you don't polish all of its parts to a high shine. you get it to a point where you can't feel is movement in your action. match your hammer spring and trigger spring to the feel you want..and you can get something bordering 1.5# to 2# on your trigger.

Cloudpeak,

C'mon, that's a single shot that key-holed really bad!! Admit it!

Just kidding, awesome shooting. I use 231 exclusively now for all my 9/40/45 loads.

Really bad keyhole. Pretty funny:)

I've tried to keep my powder choices limited just to make my life simpler (along with caliber choices.) My first centerfire semi auto was a XDSC in 40 S&W that I bought about 4 years ago. I bought a couple of Springfield 1911's (45) and sold the XD and then bought a M&P 9mm. I actually fired a bit tighter group with the M&P (same bullet with 231) but always, I mean always, had a flyer when shooting that pistol. I couldn't shoot plates (at 7 yards) worth a hoot with the M&P. I bought the CZ Compact 9mm and can run the plates pretty good, now. I like my 1911's but seem to be able to do better with the CZ. I think the weight of the pistol coupled with the 9mm makes all the difference in the world.

I'm out of the 40 business and now load 9mm and 45 using 231 in 9 and 45 and Clays in 45 and am a happy camper.

I do most of my shooting at 7 yards as this is the distance we shoot plates at. I need to get around to shooting at a longer distance just to see what happens. As a 61 year old who wears trifocals (although I do have shooting glasses with the dominate eye focused on the front sight and left eye focused for distance), I'm not expecting much:eek: I did find that not drinking coffee in the am helped me with my groups----darn it.

Other than the FAQ at CZforums, is there any more good info on a trigger job for the SA?
