As said in earlier posts, CZ has re-profiled the barrel on the newer 97's to feed hollow points. A little polishing of the feed ramp will allow hollow points. The original 97 was designed for ball ammo.
I've only shot ball ammo so far, but feeding is now flawless after a little extractor polishing. I need to try some HP ammo and see how that goes since my 97b is recent production. Ramp looks to be very polished already.
I have been wanting a 97B since I too saw one. The bad thing was, the one I saw long ago has been the only I've seen in person since. However, its the price of .45ACP that stops me cold when I think about how much more 9mm or 9x18 I could buy for the same amount of money. I may still take the plunge, eventually.
Reloading solved that problem for me. There's no way I would shoot .45acp regularly unless I reloaded. I feel like it opened up a whole new level of shooting/firearms.
If I was a .45 guy I would have to have one. I love CZs! They are beautiful, sweet shooters.
Watchout though, they tend to tend to multiply asexually in your safe. I bought a CZ75 Omega and before I knew it a Stainless Steel CZ75 popped up in my safe.
A CZ97 is on my short list of guns to get. I would have bought one if they made threaded barrels for them but I settled on a CZP09. CZs are the hidden gem of the handgun world, well at least in America
