Been going round and round trying to find the best ammo for this gun. I had to send it back to cz for some trigger and ramp work and they fixed that nicely. Anyway, I was trying to settle on the best round and tried many 165 gr with mixed results. Then I sent an email to the gunsmith at cz here in the USA and he said they use the S&B 180 grains for all their testing. So I got a box of S&B 180 grain and saw much better results. Where most of the 165 gr ammo was all over the place at 15 yrds the 180 grain would give me 8" groups at 15 yrds. Through further testing I have settled on the Remington Golden Sabre 180 gr. At 3 and 7 yrds the groups are like 2" to 3"'s and at 15 yrds the groups were around 6". This gun doesn't seem to like the 165gr stuff but very much prefers the 180gr stuff.
The only thing I can figure is the slower velocity of the 180gr. allows it to "grab" the rifleing better which gives it better spin and therefore yeild tighter groups.

I have no personal experience with the RAMI, but one gun mag test I saw (and comments on the CZ-Forum to the same effect) indicates that "some" RAMIS prefer lighter bullets.

The gunm mag test had them using 155 gr. ammo with great results. (Don't ask me where to find those particular loads -- but they were factory, not handloaded, ammos.)

I have a RAMI in 40 and a chrono. I could pick up some of the rounds you're interested in and put them through there. I normally handload and my RAMI seems to like 155, 165s and 180s all just fine. I used handloaded 180 gr XTPs with Win brass, CCI primers, and Tite-Group in a charity action pistol shoot a few weeks ago and was getting good hits all the way out from 40 yards. I think think I was the only guy there shooting a sub-compact and I finished mid field in limited class of about 60 shooters.

Out to 40 yards! I can't imagine my gun or me hiting a 2' square target at that range with the lighter loads. What would you estimate your spread was 40 yrds?
The test target that came with the gun used the S&B 180 grain at 15 meters and had a spread a little over 4" with 6 shots.
I've had guys who are better shooters than me shoot my gun with only marginally better results.
Maybe I should send the gun back in for further work but with the groups I got at 15 yrds with the Golden Sabre ammo I think it is more than adequate for self defence.

The test target doesn't mean diddly squat.

They're fired off hand (not from a rest) throughout the day. They are more of a function test and, arguably, a sight registration test, than an indicator of gun accuracy.

I've had a number of CZs, and they all shot better than the test target indicated. (And that's with ME shooting, not somebody who's good.)

Sub-4" at 40 yards (which wasn't claimed) would impress the hell out of me.

Why would someone think that a lighter bullet is less (or more) accurate than a heavier one?

Incidentally, I got a copy of the new CDNN catalog in the mail (got the email version earlier but missed it...) THey're showing 155 gr. Ranger .40 ammo for about $12.50 a box (50 rounds). Similar to Black Talon, I think.
