Hey all,

Any opinions on the CZ Sharptail? Or CZ shotguns in general? I am considering the 12 gauge model as my next purchase. It will be used mostly for upland hunting and some informal yard clay shooting. I also shoot two or three rounds of sporting clays a year.

It looks pretty with the case coloring and is in my price range.

The other gun I would be considering is a Remington 1100 but I will probably end up buying both in the near future.

I could honestly care less where it is made.

Anyone handled/shot any of the CZ side by sides? Bobwhite, Ringneck or Sharptail?

I mentioned that because a lot of folks think they're getting a CZ-made gun. It is made in Turkey and some folks don't like Turkish guns. You need to handle them to see if one of them fits you (actually shooting one at a gun club would be even better)

I handled a Bobwhite a few times. The CZs are well regarded for field guns by those that actucally use them, but they might be overpriced. For around the same dollar you could get a Charles Daly or Fabarm Lion or used BSS or ...

If the Sharptail is priced similar to the Ringneck (about $800-900) I couldn't find any 12 gauge side by side similar that was kinda semi fancy with a case colored receiver new for the same price.

Granted I am looking at pictures but I can go handle it in person at Gander sometime soon

Hi,
I am kind of late with this, however, I just have bought the CZ-Sharptail a month ago. First, it is an awesome looking sxs. Second, its trigger is very much improved over the CZ-Ringneck that I had before. It is a little short for me though, an extra 1/2" would make it better for me. That said, I love it. It is a conversation starter gun. Many of the shotgun shooters at my club asked about it and were impressed by its looks. I even could have sold it for a fellow $400.00 over I paid for it in Canada. I paid $1,190.00 Canadian for it, the fellow guessed that it was S2,000.00. I said that no, it was only $1,600.00. He wanted to buy it on the spot. I didn't sell it though, I told him that In was only joking. It is hard to come by CZ SxS guns up here, this was the only one my dealer was able to get.

The gun is fun to shoot, it patterned well. I use it with modified and improved modified chokes. I feel like a "proper Gentleman Hunter from Britain" when I go out with it.

Best regards, Antal

I won a Ringneck .410 in a raffle. Out of the box the action is stiff, but improves with use. The fit and finish is impressive.

It feels like a magic wand in my hands, and patterns well on paper. I wish I could give you stories of bushels of birds harvested...I can't yet, but any misses will be my fault not the gun's. I plan to keep it a while.

I have a CZ and two Ugartecheas, like all three. A couple of years after I had it, one of the Uggies locked up. Local gun smith took it apart and found a loose chip of metal from machining that eventually found its way into the gears. Other than that, they have been flawless. The CZ is a mono-block and the Uggies have dovetailed barrels. I like the seamless look of the dovetails better, but both types work well if properly made.
