I'm wondering how intense of a gunsmithing job it is to remove/relocate the front sight on a CZ550 and thread the barrel. I'd like to mount a suppressor.

The CZ rep I contacted didn't seem to know if the front sight was screwed + epoxied, screwed + soldered, or just plain screwed on.

Here's a parts schematic that may help.

If it's right, then it looks like it's screwed in. Any reputable shop should be able to remove it, thread the barrel and relocate the front sight. However, depending on the taper of the barrel, you may have a change in the elevation (Point of impact may be actually lower as the front sight is raised on the barrel profile.)

Thanks. I don't know why, but it never dawned on me that there exists schematics like that, even though I've seen them a thousand times.
