da/sa ccw sig or...

If it has to be a DA/SA I like Sig pistols best. But if you at least thought about a G19 but were concerned about carrying that type of gun with a light trigger and no safety there are other options worth looking at.

I simply do not like DA/SA. I can use it well enough but just prefer the same trigger pull every time. I've used a 1911 enough that I really like the concept of a SA design with the 1911 style safety. And once again I'm comfortable with the Glock and other similar designs as long as they are in a holster. But I've always thought I'd like them better with a 1911 type safety.

There are several options now that I think are a great compromise. Smith makes several versions of their M&P with a 1911 style safety as does Ruger. But the Sig 365 series are probably the best. The standard 365 comes with 10 round mags and is pretty close in size to the 6 shot G43 making a very good option for IWB carry. And you can buy 12 and 15 round mags for the 365 with grip sleeves that do anything a G19 or similar size gun will do.

Or you could opt for the 365 XL with a longer barrel and grip. Either version comes with a very well designed 1911 style safety. They also make versions of the larger 320 with that style safety.

At least worth a look if you'd not considered those options.

I had a new 229 and sold it. Just never could warm up to it. I think Sig quality is dropping off. I compared it to my early 239 and could see some differences. It's not the same quality. Just my opinion.

If I were you I would look at Beretta, CZ, and HK. I recently discovered the HK45 and there's a lot to like there. Beretta PX4 is getting a lot of good revues on another forum. I've always like Berettas but don't own one presently.

Your choice is excellent. A Sig P6 ('80) with a new mainspring is now on my left hip, in the IWB Remora (their main version with No clip).

Along with some other posters, I have a CZ PCR and for variety, a new Walther P99 AS (due to the DA/SA feature).
You guys realize that Walther is still producing the 99 AS until contracts with the German govt. are complete?

Plan2Live:
guys at SigTalk claim that thinner grips are available for the double-stack P228, but I have no idea whether the grips would then feel exactly like my pair of P6 and original P225 ('87).
