There’s a piece of paper in the box with the customer service number. Call them.

If you have used a hose clamp or some other way to try to hold the abutment from rotating, did it change the force needed to turn the shot tube? What I'm wondering, is if the abutment is actually turning inside the barrel shroud. If the force needed to turn it remains the same regardless of whether the abutment was clamped or not, then it could be the shot tube itself.

cobalt I have tried putting the barrel in a padded vise with no luck There was no change in force to turn the shot tube I can see the end of the shot tube turning when I look down the compression tube with the abutment seal out. I thought about trying to punch the barrel shroud but was not sure where to punch The gun shoots good so maybe I should leave it alone Thanks for replying

If you have the abutment seal out and can see the abutment itself and it's not turning with the shot tube, then restaking the abutment will not help, and on top of that, depending on how the gun is made, the sleeve that has the abutment inside it may be spot welded to the rest of the gun and there's no actual staking you can get to- the staking you CAN see is to hold the seal in place, not the abutment itself.

Anyway, if the shot tube can be seen turning inside the abutment, and the abutment isn't also turning, the shot tube threads are not engaging the threads in the abutment. Usually pulling outwards on the shot tube as you turn the shot tube CCW will cause the threads to engage and the tube to come out.

But in the end, like you said- if the gun is shooting okay, there's no real reason to remove it unless there was a lot of oil inside the shroud where the BBs sit, or there was a problem with rust. Oil in the shot tube or oily BBs hurt accuracy a lot, so it's a good idea to get into the habit of cleaning the shot tube every hundred shots or so. And don't over oil the gun.
