Some years ago, I got a wild hair and had a local gunsmith build a custom 6.5-.300 WSM on a Remington 700 action. Well, financial concerns due to medical expenses have thinned the ranks of the herd that occupies my safe and the Remington was one of those.

I put it on Gunbroker with a reserve price and a Buy It Now price, too. I didn't really expect it to sell but it not only sold, it blew right past the Buy It Now price!

All it takes, I guess, is two guys that "just gotta have it!".

I am pleased, just in case you can't tell. :D

If you just have to let one go its good that it goes with ..."excitement". sorry for your loss...(we hate to see them go...)

Sorry you had to thin the herd but glad you got more for it than what you were asking!

Thank you for your concern. It is honestly appreciated.

The Remington was my first venture into custom rifles and the realm of wildcat cartridges and was a very interesting and educational experience. But sometimes life requires we set our hobby aside or at least demote its importance.

The results of the auction were quite surprising. But then, as a friend said, most things 6.5 caliber have been hot lately. Maybe he is right and that's what it was.

Very true as I have been through some rough times myself a number of years ago and had to remind myself that this was just a hobby; not my life's work.

I heard a lot of good things about the 6.5. It sounded to me an ideal caliber for hunting as it's very flat shooting.

Yes, but in reality, it won't do anything my .270 Win. will do out to 500 meters and it is very effective on the 500m ram. I use it (.270) for Metallic Silhouette. It would take a range beyond 600 yards before any real advantage starts to show, and I'm not too sure I can see a deer that far away anymore. :what:
