No good pictures yet, but I'll relay all I can.
It was dad's old pheasant gun I'm refurbishing and gathering info on, unknown to him, as a late Christmas gift. It was old when he bought it, sometime between the late 70s and mid 80s; it's pre serial numbers.
The original barrel was ruined by rust and he discarded it.
The left side of the receiver shows only 'STEVENS' and the pointing dog.
The right has 'J. STEVENS ARMS COMPANY' 'CHICOPEE FALLS, MASS U.S.A' and, at the lower rear, '5100'.
On the bottom there is a mark, like a tilted #, centered at the front.
In the area that would be beneath the barrels, beneath the right-hand barrel there is a V or <. The tip points forward.
Beneath the left-hand barrel, from front to back, or left to right if looking at if from the side that has them right side-up, there is an H in a circle, Q, K, and then a much smaller squared C, like a square with the right side (or bottom, from aiming position) open.
