Just got a flyer from LGS and the deal is buy 1000 rounds of Remington Buckshot(100 round boxesX10) and get a Maverick model 88 12 gauge free.

I didn't go in to price (I'm guessing around $100.) a box, so spend 1K get a shotgun free deal or not?

Academy sells the 100 round boxes of Remington buckshot for $84.99. It's only a deal if you're planning to buy that much buckshot in the first place. I can personally load mine a heap cheaper.

That sounds like the car lots around here advertising that if you buy a new truck you get a free 42" HD TV. Right. If you think you're getting anything for free, you have a lot to learn friend. :)

the price of Autos has a bit more wiggle room than ammo IMHO.

Academy sells the 100 round boxes of Remington buckshot for $84.99.

a local sporting goods store has the 100 round box for $99.99 and yeah I can reload for about half a buck a shell. I'm afraid the price of factory loaded ammo will only continue to go up and this might be the time to buy and cache especially if components continue to be scarce.

What are you going to do with 1000 rounds if buck shot?...

Personally, I think it's only a good deal if you WANT the gun, WANT some buckshot, and are willing to sell off either the gun or some of the ammo.

Buy it all, sell of 500-700 rounds, and then it might be a deal...

buy 1000 rounds of Remington Buckshot

WHICH Remington Buckshot? Is this the only kind packaged that way? http://www.remington.com/products/ammunition/shotshells/buckshot/buckshot-value-pack-100.aspx

$79.99 per at the mountain of geese - http://www.gandermountain.com/modpe...-2-3/4-00-9-Pellets&i=712832&r=view&from=grid

Times ten = $799.90 ... how much can you buy a new Maverick for outright? Any other places offering this buckshot cheaper, perhaps?

Not sounding like a screaming deal so far...
