Hi all, I decided to go to the gun show in Pasadena TX this morning, and was looking around for a used .243 bolt action rifle. There was a slightly used, but in nice condition Remington 700 BDL with wood stock and scope for $345. I was very tempted, but continued to look around and came across a Howa 1500 ultralight in .243, fitted with a Simmons Whitetail 3.5-10X scope, all for $325 out the door. Remembering some positive reviews about the Howa, I got that one. The downside is that the stock is not wood like the Remington, but the synthetic material seems quite decent. I will use the rifle mostly for range practice and for hiking.
I will probably try it out at the range tomorrow and hope it's a tack driver.
Decent deal on this rifle and scope? How do you like yours?
