hi there

I can buy .44 magnums for my DESERT EAGLE MkI from Magtech. I don't have the DESERT EAGLE yet (I'll have to wait a whole week for my license :( ), but I do like to know what ammo you guys advise me. Magtech is the cheapest here in belgium, so if they work in the DESERT EAGLE that would be great news for me :)

unfortunately I don't reload, so I rely for 100% on factory ammo.

any input is highly appreciated :)

Have never tried Magtech but be sure to choose jacketed bullet cartridges.

Definately need jacketed, the thicker the jacket the better. It's a shame you don't reload so you can pick your bullet.

Even jacketed bullets can still lead, for example thin copper jackets like on the Rainer bullets. My DE rips straight through the jacket and started leading up just enought that the slide quit cycling.

Put a few rounds through it, then pop the barrel off and make sure there's no lead. Once you find ammo that works well in it, have fun!

You may want to try PMC if they have it there. It's bullets seem thick enough, and the round has plenty of power to cycle the slide okay.

thanks for the advice guys :) I did know that the DESERT EAGLE doesn't like lead bullets, but had no idea some jackets are too thin.

I will try to get my hands on PMC, they tend to be fairly cheap her ein Belgium :)

any further input is still highly appreciated, especially someone who shoots Magtech ammo through his (or her  ) DE .44 magnum.

I have fired Magtech ammo thru my friend's DE. It seemed to function fine with no FTF/FTE issues and had recoil as one would imagine with a .44 Mag. We fired about 150 rounds.

We were firing in a 25 yard range at paper targets so I do not know your application.

I think that we bought it because it was cheap.
