I've always liked these guns and handled one recently at a local gun shop,it seemed very well made and felt like it was a quality firearm. My questions are how reliable are these little guns and what if any parts interchange with a 1911? Also will the combat master take officer 1911 grips and mags of does it use its own?

I have a Seattle Combat Master, and it has been reliable. I learned early on it doesn't like light weight truncated bullets, but other then that it feeds, and ejects everything else.
I'm not sure on the grips. I haven't replaced mine, but I do know that Alumagrips, make slim, and regular thickness grips specific to the Detonics. So the grips may not be interchangeable.
All the internals, except for the hammer strut, barrel, and guide rod, are standard 1911 parts, and will interchange, with the necessary fitting.
The Detonics will accept standard 1911 mags, but since the Detonics magazines hold six rounds, a standard mag, with seven, will hang below the grip frame.

I understand that the best ones were made in Pendergrass, Ga. I am a bit biased, since I have a very nice Detonics 9-11-01 that was made there!

Mine is a early Washington state made pistol and I agree with markallen. Grips are their own
As for GA guns. The nade at end guns were so so. They didn't have the QC of the earlier Ga, guns. Understand were assembled as fast as possible since they were shutting down.
I like mine but the Colt Defender or New Colt agent is a better carry pistol. So mine stays in safe and carried now and then
