I mean no offense to Shotgunnation, but in the two videos you've posted so far, you haven't shown any practical shooting. I've no doubt that you can make it go boom, I also have no doubt that at point-blank range it'll put a hole in a pumpkin. But what will it do at 15 yards, or at 25 yards and beyond?

So far all I've seen is a gun-shaped noisemaker. Can it hit anything?

Don't like the anticipation do you? As my post above says, it's been too rainy. But guess what. Yesterday I got lots of footage and im compiling the video and that should probably posted later today.

I couldn't help but notice that same coincidence...

In every video where this gun is shot, they seldom show a target being hit, I've seen a pumpkin hit at point-blank range and what looks like some sort of white wall or perhaps a sheet of styrofoam at about 3 feet.
Odd that I ordered one in March that still hasn't arrived; if you got one in 4 weeks.

Also odd that your video has already made it on to their website.

Also odd that the only posters to have supposedly received these have very low post counts on the forums they've posted to.

After originally saying 4-6 weeks last March, I emailed them and got this reply on August 30th:

Your pistol is completed and currently processing through testing, QC, packing and shipping. We will be contacting you within approximately 5-15 days and providing a tracking number for your shipment.

Obviously that 5-15 days has come and gone.

I'm about ready to call the FBI and ATF and FTC on this.

It's also odd that in every video the different YouTubers make the point that you can get it through the mail and that you don't have to go through an FFL.

What market or demographic are they going for? Certainly not knowledgable gun owners or black powder shooters who know you don't have to go through an FFL in most states to buy a black powder firearm. Then they show it go boom without hitting anything at a useful range.

I'm looking forward to it. You'll be the first YouTuber to post a video of it shooting targets. It's definitely a cool looking little gun, and the price is reasonable if it has any actual use.

I think at this point in time the company basically wants to establish that this model is actually available after a lot of bad feedback from people who ordered one and waited a long time but didn't received theirs due to slow initial start up of production.
One person on thefiringline received his at the end of August after waiting for 32 weeks.
Some others cancelled their orders after waiting for a long time which may have scared away some customers.
The company did provide prompt refunds when requested after they got tired of waiting.
Now the company probably needs to attract some attention to the fact that a production run of some guns has been completed.
And these videos are probably the result of those efforts.
Personally I'm glad that they look as good as they do and seem to function well and are as advertised.

This does not seem to primarily be a hunting weapon unless someone really wants it to be.
Any experienced black powder shooter should realize that and see that its a fun gun that may be better suited for self defense, plinking and/or close range target shooting.
Such short barrels without a choke constriction will limit its range when loaded with shot.
It would be up to the shooter to figure out to tighten up the pattern and increase its effectiveness.

Large patched round balls can also be very effective if used to hunt game with.
There's a lot of different testing that could be helpful to entice people to buy one.
Velocity & accuracy testing, using plastic wads, trying out various slugs, bullets or buckshot are all options that one can only imagine the results.
Give it some time for more people to get their hands on one and are able to figure out how to maximize its effectiveness.

After all it's a brand new model that hasn't been available for very long.
With 6 inch smooth bore barrels what do folks really expect?

I remember the Cobray .45 black powder Derringers that were made in either a one barrel or two barrel configuration.
I would generally not expect it to be used for hunting but more for personal defense as a pocket pistol.
I suppose that a person could shoot a deer or game with it if legal, so to each their own.

Here's the Cobray break action with a .451 rifled barrel, a sliding safety button, a removable breech plug, with the latest version at that time using a 209 primer.

This is what I think as well, which flies against what he said initially. And I wouldn’t care one way or the other anyway, but I’m skeptical he’s making these videos just because.

Well... tough crowd. I got something cool that I wanted to show off and explore. I suppose if you're not intrested you don't have to hang around this thread. I'm sure you guys have better things to do than set around on the Internet... hmmmm.

And yes, I am shooting videos just because. After I made the 1st video I had tons of inquiries for more. As it turns out there's not a lot of information out there. I initially planned to just do slow mo explosion vids.

I spent all day yesterday shooting and evaluating the Diablo and I've got a video I should be posting here in just a little bit. I like getting as much information in as little time as possible. Video editing has always been fun for me so of course my videos look "funded". But honestly I use 2 different apps on my phone and that's it. I homeschool 4 kids and this is what I do in my off time.

And yes, I called it a "chat forum." Seems like a decent enough description to me. Didn't realize I stepped into an elitist grammar class. I'm just over here trying to play with some black powder.

Typically this place is just a fun place without a really hard crowd. But in this instance there’s a LOT of upset people who felt this company has just been duping people. When things take a turn like that a lot of skepticism is born. I’m not in that crowd, but looking at it from the outside as I am I have to wonder, with what I see and think I understand, if you aren’t more affiliated than you claim to be. There’s still people waiting and you’ve come along in a short time not only with a gun people have been waiting for for so long, but giving it rave reviews before you’ve even tested it supposedly. Paint me skeptical.

Regardless I’m quite interested in what it can do (and can’t).

I have a Taurus Judge that is a pretty good backup or pocket gun. Takes a .45 Colt or 410 shot shells and slugs. Seems to me this is not nearly as useful!ly

Neat though!

Just out of curiosity, What rave review did I give it without testing it? I've only commented on the quality of the item as it arrived and spoke only of my personal experience as a gunsmith. I dont think I've made any assumptions anywhere. ‍♂️
I truly try my best to only deal in facts

I had a great time at the range exploring all the different load possibilities. I hope that this video can aid others with their interests and questions. I've some more testing to do in regards to penetration at different distances but this is a great start!

I have to admit that this hits my funny bone. We do have some vocabulary/punctuation Nazis here sometimes.

As for the gun, I am interested in it. But not their short one. They have a longer version of it on their website. It'll make it more fun if the longer barrels will give it more reach. With cylinder chokes, might be able to regulate spread with the powder/shot ratios.

Would love to have a Pedersoli Howdah, but a little cost prohibitive for me. Have one of the Navy Arms Pedersoli double barrelled full length shotguns. That's a lot of fun for shooting and small game.

Rave was certainly a bit dramatic, but it sounded to me as though you were already familiar with it with statements made in post #20:

“I think there's gonna be a lot of non believers out there when I start posting pictures of the squirrels that I take out.”

“I personally got this thing to have a lot of fun with it but if I've got to prove it as practical I will.”

By all means I could be wrong, and if I am I am truly sorry for being so skeptical. Some things just seem a little out of place or some such.

I'm just highly optimistic and honestly anything can be used practically given certain situations.

Sure hope other people don’t try shooting both twice the powder charge and projectile weight as the manufacturer recommends as the max. They’re your fingers.

I did appreciate the video though. Much more informative. You might be able to play with the powder charge/projectile volume, as well as have it jug choked (or screw-in). The saying goes that an equal load of powder and pellets produces the perfect balance. More lead/less powder slows it down keeping the pattern tighter.

I'm sceptical.
It appears that everything positive stated about this Diablo is made by a paid spokesman or a personal friend of the seller.
The sugar is being laid on pretty thick and there are plenty of signs the "support" is not grass roots in nature. It at least looks like a duck and walks like a duck....

Wow... ok.

A twenty gauge would be nice also. If these work out and the company stays afloat, this is an adaptable platform for many options.

As long as the barrels can be somewhat regulated. Not a lot of us can even afford a used Pedersoli, let alone a new one. I got lucky with mine.

I don't think anyone else makes doubles.

I felt the same way. Came across as a paid add along with the company tape measure. They don’t give those sweet things out to just anyone

I’m still blow away by the light loads because that’s smart (which it is) to push the pistol well beyond what the manufacturer states as a max because... well, not much of an answer there, but certainly wasn’t smart or safe. Well, unless you truly understand how it’s made and what it can handle.

Absolutely, though I’m just not sure holding on to a plastic grip would be the same thing. Just doesn’t float my boat and I’m not even a true traditionalist. The price is good though.
