Eye protection isn't the issue here...like I said, I should have been wearing it, but it wouldn't have protected my head anyway. I actually was wearing a baseball cap, and a heavy coat...the rock hit me in the only uncovered area.

Having a reliable backstop is important - mountain, hill, clay bank, sand pit, something.

Yeah, that was kind of the problem. It was a natural hill, apparently full of rocks. I made sure to move any surface rocks away, but it was hard to really inspect the ground due to snow.

As for missing...that's 'cause my sights weren't set yet. Man, that .44 Mag digs a big hole in the ground!
