I'm really liking the way the CZ "fits" me. Sure they are are fundamentaly the same gun but there are differences in the CZ steel frame compact, the P-01 and the PCR. I like the PCR but there is a real price difference between that and the Steel and I'm really don't see myself adding a laser or flashlight to an P-01.

Is the weight savings with the alloy frame worth it the ergonomic difference between the PCR and the P-01?

What selling point made the difference in your choice? Of course the answers will be divided maybe its like choosing your favorite crayon color out of a box of 64??? Looking forward to the responses .

I think................)

Compact is all steel.....no decock function.

PCR was designed for Czheck police. Decocker, alloy frame.

P01 was designed around NATO and is basically an updated PCR with a rail, different sights and submitted to NATO.

All are pretty fantastic. All have the slide stop as the weak link.

What selling point made the difference in your choice?

The fact that I finally found a gun store that carried CZ guns was the main difference in my choice! They had a P01, P06, and a P07. Wasn't interested in a .40 so that took care of the P06. Checked out the P07 but didn't really care for the ergonomics and the "feel" of the gun. That left the P01, the gun that I wanted all along as it reminded me of the grip shape of a Browning Hi-Power, my all-time favorite 9mm. Liked the the compact size and overall balance of the P01 and liked the full frame for adding a light or laser to it for home defense use.

I have the PCR because I wanted an alloy frame carry gun with decocker. The P01 would have been a great pick, but it wasn't in inventory when I had cash in my hand.

The P01 would be great for hanging a light on it which could make it a good home defense gun.

I would still like a steel frame compact for the cocked and locked (or not) feature it could provide. It is a bit heavier, so it wouldn't likely be a carry gun for me. But if I did have one, I'd see about getting a P01 slide release for it. I put a P01 slide release in my PCR because the PO1 release is about 1/4" longer and easier for me to use.

BTW, isn't the CZ75 safety version design like the CZ82 I have? Where the safety lever only functions when the hammer is cocked, but on half cock the safety can't engage? Which means on half cock the gun uses the DA first pull as its safety? That's a pretty versatile set up if you ask me. Leave it off safe and hammer down for people that are used to revolvers or go cocked and locked for those used to SA autoloaders.

I don’t think a rail is needed on a carry gun but have the P01 because got a great deal on a surplus one. Yes, the weight between these and a steel compact one does make a difference. Only reason a could see getting the steel one is if you had to have a manual safety. Whatever you get, slap some aluminum grips on from CGW.

I had a hard time choosing between the steel framed compact and the PCR but ended up buying the PCR. I was buying for a carry gun so weight was a consideration. The decocker also turned out to be a desirable carry gun feature for me. I am very pleased with the PCR.

The PCR is a nice gun. I just traded mine off after realizing I simply didn't shoot it as well as my regular ccw and with a growing waist line it would be harder to carry than a single stack. I personally felt the all steel compact model didn't offer enough as a package compared to the lighter PCR. If you're carrying, the PCR is probably the one you want. I have no use for a rail on a carry gun so the p01 was out and I wish Springfield made an xds without one as well. The one advantage may be finding holsters for all the all steel models, which have a slightly narrower frame and will not be compatible with PCR holsters. I was torn about letting mine go but it was in excellent condition and had already been relegated to range toy status where it had heavy competition against other pistols. I'd hoped to turn it into a full size CZ of some sort but no one was willing to make a deal so it became a Sig P229 Scorpion instead.

I have a P01 which bought when they first came out. I got it because unlike the 75B it has shorter length of pull. I had a PCR but my sister in-law "borrowed it". I had a Compact but sold it for some reason. In the end a lot comes down to do you want a rail or not. Do you want to carry cocked a locked. Do you like to shoot DA/SA.

I still have the P01. I also have a Shadow 2 and a 75B both of which I use as a SA gun. I only shoot them DA about 10% of the time. Both wear extended safeties and I use them cocked and locked. I will throw a curveball into the mix. The 99021 and the 99041s. The are all steel pistols with a rail. The look like a P01 but have no decocker and function like a Compact. DA/SA or SA cocked a locked. #CZunicorn
