Digital scale recommendations

No need to do that, weird.

I can use my FA DS-750 (or other digital scales I have) the same way I use my Ohaus 10-10, dump an approximate powder charge in the pan and trickle up to exact charge. (BTW, I use FA powder trickler)

FYI, here's ChuckHawk's review of FA DS-750 - https://www.chuckhawks.com/frankford_DS750_scale.htm

At 2:00 minute of video showing powder trickling on FA DS-750 (Trickle powder into pan until you reach the desired weight )

That video...yeah, I did that kind of thing at first...took me about 1 week of doing that before I bought a RCBS trickler-2.

So I spent some time with that DS-750 scale on Sat...its kind of an odd duck.

It seems to weigh just a tad it higher than my bar scale...typically about .1g in the + column. To me this is no big deal.

What I noticed is that it kept losing it's zero jumping to the +.5 grain mark. I'd set the pan, tare it, it would be ok for a bit, then all of the sudden, my loads would jump .5g. When I'd pull the pan, the display would read "-0.5" instead of zero. I'd set the pan, re-tare, it would be ok again...then it would randomly jump that .5 grain again. It kept doing that over and over.

I was dumping an 8g UNQ charge and was cross checking every one, digital scale then bar scale. It was obvious when it would jump.

Try calibrating the scale after replacing the batteries with fresh alkaline or rechargeable batteries - https://www.btibrands.com/wp-content/uploads/bti_uploads/205205-DS-750-instructions.pdf

"NOTE: If unit does not ... hold zero, or displays readings that drift significantly, try replacing the batteries as these conditions are all potential problems resulting from a low voltage battery.

IV. Calibration:

1. Reset the scale by pressing [ON/OFF] key.

2. Wait until the LCD displays "0.0" and then press and HOLD [UNITS] key for 3 seconds, the LCD will display "CAL", and then release the [UNITS] key.

3. Press [UNITS] key again, the LCD will display "CAL" followed by the required calibration weight.

4. Add the required calibration weight, the display will show "PASS" and return to normal weighing mode."

I would recommend the use of check weights to verify accuracy of any scale - https://www.amazon.com/Bekith-Preci...+calibration+weight+set&qid=1580746989&sr=8-2

I bought those...and the scale seems to be in line with my trusty Lyman bar. Sadly, the goofy thing will still drift on occasion. I changed the batteries, tried different locations.

The pan I use is 130.3 grain...on the nose. I will let the digital "warm up", set the pan, it will zero just fine. Randomly (and I do mean randomly), the until will add .2-.4 grain to the zero. I'll pull the pan and it will display just that ".2, .3, or .4" grain. I'll re-zero and we're off to the races for a while. This is ok with a powder thrower, but if I was hand measuring, this would be a massive no-no as you wouldn't know when it decides to add that weight until you pull the pan.

It also doesn't trickle worth a poo...but that's ok given the price of the thing.

At the moment, I'm using it as a quick check from a powder throw and then using the bar scale at the same time to trickle if needed. Sounds like a pain, but it really isn't. Given the price I paid, I don't feel like it was a bad buy.

One thing...the stupid auto turn off really sucks, I wish I could disable that.
