I took my DW Classic Bobtail to the range again to shoot another couple 100 rounds or so to get the round count to 1000. The first 600 rounds have been absolutely flawless - feeding, ejecting, accuracy...just the way it sould be w/ a fine piece of machinery! Then at about 700 - FTF, FTE :what: then again, and again and again. I field stripped the gun and lubed her up and ran a bore snake through the bore and went back to shoot another 100 rounds or so....1st mag - FTF. FTE - argh! cleared it, shot it another couple rounds....FTE :EKK:
My resident 1911 guru detail stripped the gun and we inpected part...wish I knew what I was looking at!
Anyway...short story long...I'm wondering why the gun started now to act up and what potential boo boos might be :D
Thanks in advanced!

Sell the jamomatic

I guess when you really needed that gun, I'd be reading about you in the obituary section

Get a high quality magazine, Wilson or McCormick, then try it again. The very best autos are only as reliable as their magazines.

I doubt the mechanics of the pistol have changed, but the magazine can, especially high volume split follower types.

If its a 3 or 3.5" barreled 1911 I find recoil springs need replacement often, 800-1200 rounds is not uncommon, On my Kimber UC which I sometimes carry, I change the spring at 800 rounds just to error on the side of caution. Much as I love the 1911, ts another reason to prefer to carry something else when a sub-compact is needed.

If its not a sub-compact, remember probably 90+% of all gun problems are really magazine problems when you get down to it. Check the extractor tension for the failures to eject/extract, 1911Tuner has posted fantasticly good instructions on doing so, use the search.

4 Wilson mags - that had been flawless up until this point were FAILING TO FEED & FAILING TO EJECT. I was shooting WWB. Oh, my DW is a commander sized, steel frame & slide 1911
