Check out Fred's (http://www.fredsm14stocks.com/) if your looking for a stock. He has nice wood and synthetic stocks with metal for real reasonable prices. I got a real nice walnut stock from him that looked awful when it first arrived. A little Gun Scrubber and steel wool later, once all the dirt was gone, and it was a beautiful piece of wood with just a couple of minor dings that steamed right out.
I also got a glass stock from him that I used as a paint project. A quick degreasing and a couple of coats of Aluma Hyde, and it was brand new again.
Keep in mind, his stocks are M14 stocks and do have the cutout for the selector. Springfields synthetic stocks are really just poorly done over GI glass stocks that have the slot filled and some have the molded in checkering ground off. Their paint doesnt hold up real long either.
