Do I have to make it into an SBR?

I have 2 AR style “pistols”, never even worried about jumping through all the NFA hoops. The arm braces they have out now are amazing. Some even collapse and extend (to a point). I have angled hand stops underneath the barrel on the piccatiny rail. As long as they are not vertical grips it’s legal. My question is why are people still going through the expensively long hassle of registering an SBR?
This may sound like a silly reason but I prefer a full length rifle buffer over a carbine length one. I’m also a left hander with long arms so I like being able to push that ‘gas hole’ as far away from my face as possible. Holding a ‘pistol’ with a can close to your face will have you looking like Justin Trudeau at a Halloween party before long.

Because not everyone likes shouldering an arm brace. I prefer a real shoulder stock. I also like using a forward vertical grip.

Or use a gun trust with a fairly open ended name such as the TX Gun Trust.

some engravers charge by the letter for the engraving. So keeping the trust name with few letters makes things easier!

I stress this to customers all the time....then they go to an attorney/nitwit who sells them "The Robert James Johnson Jr. Family NFA Gun Trust". (not the real name, but just as long)

Sure its legal, but its also dumb. "In God We Trust" engraved would make resale more attractive than something long.
If you ever Form 1 an NFA firearm, as maker you are required to engrave the makers name and location where it was made. You can use common abbreviations for the city & state...but your makers name..........ALL OF IT exactly as it appears on your Form 1.

Now, F1 as an individual and your name is Robert James Johnson Jr? Yeah....ALL OF IT and city, state.

Interesting for some.........but the location of "making" isn't necessarily where you live or the address on your F1. It's the location where you actually "make" your NFA firearm.
Live in Dalworthington Gardens, Texas? Just drive over to Azle and save $$.
Alaskan? I would name my trust "Santa I Trust" and build it in North Pole just outside Fairbanks.
Live in Arkansas? Build it in Toad Suck. Because you can.:D

Mostly because the ATF has reversed itself several times on whether you can legally shoulder a braced pistol and will likely do it again.
