Do polymer coated bullets expand?

When using polymer coated lead hollow point bullets from a .38 special +P revolver, will the coated bullets expand the same as uncoated bullets; or will the polymer bullet be more prone to keep its shape? Just wondering.

The coating has no effect on expansion. It's not thick or strong enough to hold up a projectile together under the impact forces.

Never used an MBC, my preferred coated bullet, on game to say. Anyone know of a gel or meat target video?

Even plated bullets expand if you push them hard enough. I retrieved plated flat nose bullets and they were mushroomed nicely. I have retrieved cast bullets that didn't expand.
My point is, it's dependant on the velocity vs the hardness of the bullet.

I always thought so, just try to seat and crimp them at the same time. Sooner or later you'll find out.
