First of all, it is difficult to notice the few tiny specks.

The gun is often kept in a car's console and has been in excellent condition.
This .380 Makarov is not usually considered collectible, but maybe more frequent swabbing with CLP can prevent more pitting?

It spent a week Inside the holster--normally it is kept Outside the Remora--during a road trip to Texas.

I've been using Remora holsters for years and never had a problem. My P3AT has lived in a Remora in the trunk of my car for at least 3 years, and I'm in central Florida. It's probably coated with something, but it looks blued or parkerized. No damage.
