A few years ago I started buying nice production knives. I’ve acquired designs from Les George, Allen Elishewitz, Sikevitch, RJ Martin, Isham, Ostap Hel, Poltergeists Works, Matt Christianson, Jerry Jelly, and finally Kombou.

I’ve really come to appreciate Kombou’s style, and the functionality of his designs. I really have a love for all titanium knives and designs with some style I find appealing. Bestech makes great knives also so I’m a happy camper.

Do you have a favorite designer? I don’t have a favorite fixed blade designer yet as fixed blades aren’t really that useful to me.

I think Voxnaes (spelling?) and Isham are both great aesthetics wise and functionally. I also think the Glessers are fantastic with function, though sometimes a strange aesthetic, mostly due to incorporating the Spydie hole.

Those look awesome!

Elishewitz, and of course Rex Applegate.

I have a beautiful little Damascus folder by Mike Dilluvio that was given to me. The ivory is starting to turn a bit yellow. The case looks to be sheepskin. I an told Mike has a dad, Frank, who is also a knifemaker. I know little about custom knives, but this seems to me to be a very good one. Any info you guys can provide would be greatly appreciated

There are some very fine makers that inspire in their designs. Stan Fujisaka and Mel Nishiuchi got me started. Michael Walker, Ray and Ron Appleton stand out as well.

Beautiful file work on the spine!

Could we see a closeup of the pattern in the Damascus blade?

Sure can. Hope these are OK. My friend in California ( moving to S.C. ) originally wanted to know If I could remove the checkering on the...whatever that's called, and put a finer checkering on it. I respectfully declined so he gave me the Knife!!! ( He's rich )
