Do you SLEEP with a GUN UNDER your PILLOW?

I have a Springfield .45 ACP stuck between the mattress and box spring in a holster cocked and locked with the grip sticking out just enough to get to it easily and quickly. Solves the under the pillow safety issue for me. Placed exactly where it's right there as I come out of bed. While my night stand is only big enough for my alarm clock and my inhaler it has my baby accessible and tucked in nice and safe.

My Smith and Wesson 642 has several responsibilities one is, a close quarter house gun.
I have one of those book boxes and it hides very nicely inside that on the end table.

Mounted into the wall right next to the bed with my HD AR & her HD 870 (along with few handguns, flashlights, reloads, etc. -- not the guns in the pic, that's an old shot).
Bought it back when we had our first child (prior to that, they were just leaned up against the respective corners of the bed). It wasn't cheap but has been fully worth it IMHO.

My gun sits right next to me on the nightstand,and next to my nightstand is my Remington tactical 12 gadge pump;and next to that is my grandfather's old doublebarreled coach gun. On my wife's side of the bed sits her Kahr CW40 and her Mini-14 along with a spare 20rd clip.

No for multiple reasons...
1) Kids.. They like to climb in bed in the morning.. Don't need them sqeezing before looking.
2) Sleepwalking runs in the family. The last thing I need is to dream I'm fighting someone, feel the gun in the hand and pull the trigger...
My pistol stays in a lockbox bolted to the nightstand. Not getting into it while I'm sleeping, and it keeps the kids out.

too may ND scenario's, I do keep it within easy reach of my hand though....

I answered no, because I sleep with a pillow under my gun.
Yes, going on 28 years now...I have one of those mattress toppers, that forms to your body, as you sink into it. I also have my first pillow, of the same stuff, with a regular pillow on top.
The gun sinks into the mattress topper, and the first pillow molds around it. It doesn't move at all. I keep the mag. loaded, and chamber empty.
I also don't toss and turn much..
I have a friend, who's a heavy sleeper, who kept his pistol on his nightstand. he guesses he forgot to lock his door on night,(he thinks, no sign of forced entry.), and someone walked right in while he was snoring away, and stole his pistol, billfold, knife, and checkbook, that was on his night stand.....

Gun under the pillow may not be the best idea tactically.
The film Carlito's Way suggests that it's easier to tuck the gun under the covers on your lap. Of course it's also wise to have a loaded gun, rather than a suprisingly unloaded one like Sean Penn had.
This reminds me of an old Dick Tracy comic where a wealthy couple had quilted sheets on their bedroom walls instead of wallpaper. One of the quilt squares had a hollowed-out pocket with a button closure where they kept a snubby hidden.

The one time I tried it was the one time I woke up w/ a loaded pistol in my hand don't need to do that again -- and worse yet -- the possibility of waking up w/ an extra hole in my head...not good!

I've slept with a 1911 under my pillow for years. Haven't woke up with my hand gripping it yet, nor the safety disengaged in any way. I know it doesn't afford me any advantage, which is why an easibly grabbed shotgun or rifle is closeby. I don't have a night stand either, and I don't like leaving it out in the open on a desk, or in a chair.
Thus it stays under the pillow, under my head, where I know exactly where it will be when I wake up every. Single. Day.
Then again, it is a 1911. People might not trust their modern DA's and decockers and such...

Nope. Too dangerous with my sleep patterns and other people in the home with me. I have them staged and good hardware on the exterior, so that the sound will wake me in enough time to cross the room, load, and move to a good tactical position. Take what you want from the basement and first floor, but come up the stairs...,

Nah I don't sleep with my shotgun under my pillow, but it does hang off my headboard corner. Only dang use for a single point sling I have ever found. 12 gauge maverick, barrel chopped to 19.5, stock folded (top), 3 00 mag buckshot and 2 slugs in shell holder on stock, turkey shot load in chamber, 4 00 mag buckshots and 2 slugs in the tube, muzzle down toward floor, safety on, 120 lumen flashlight and laser under the end of the tube.
AK-47 across room in corner of closet, 30+1 wolf hollow points. Spare 30 rd mag of hollow points, and one of FMJ right beside it in closet and the rest in bag in the bottom. I should find a light for it I suppose.
Handgun stays in center console in car loaded cause that's cool in SC, and it works for me.
Everything else is loaded in gun cabinet in spare bedroom. No kids, but not a lot different from when I was a kid myself.
