I was wondering if anyone has had good sucess with Earth cover scent? I have never used it before since I have only hunted in oak or pine cover.

I have never been to the area where I am hunting this weekend and I figured that earth was a universal scent.

I really belive in the use of cover scents, I had several deer sniff me out until I started using cover scents. I know that wind conditions are important , but I have felt that cover scents have helped.

I used the earth scent laundry detergent last year. It seemed to work pretty well -I had several small bucks walk right up to me while I sitting on the ground.

Haven't used the cover scent you point out.

For bowhunting I use the scent/uv eliminator soap on my clothes and spray myself down with scent eliminator after I get out of the truck.

I have used doe in heat on a feminine product and tied it to a string on my boot when walking into the stand area. Had a buck with his nose to the ground follow my path right to me later in the day. Hung the product with the scent in a tree 20yds from me. The buck followed it right to that tree.

You might want to bring some condoms along next time...just in case he catches up with you in the dark. :p :p

That's the warning my old hunting mentor gave me in regard to dragging scent....'cept de-vulgarized a bit.

Use It!

I've used the Earth cover scent, have had some deer come quite close while sitting on the ground.....it seems to work. I also like the scent, it has kind of a moist dirt smell.....

I use it as well. Attach the small plastic disk to a boot when walking/hunting in the woods. I wash my hunting clothes with a scent-free detergent. Then place one of the disks inside a garbage bag, drop in the clean clothes and seal the bag prior to the hunt.

I use the spray earth cover scent and it is fantastic. Use it on clothes and boots. I've had elk and deer walk right by me. I've had bobcats walk right by me like I'm invisible.

Just as an aside.

Earlier this year, I shot a goose and it landed in a shallow channel. My dog is utterly useless and was therefore home -- most likely asleep on my bed. When I tried wading out to get the bird, I realized the channel was just a bit too deep for the waders... so I put on a life jacket and dog-paddled my way out make the retrieve.

When I got out of the water, I smelled EXACTY like the Earth Cover Scent.

I use the H.S. Fresh Earth scent spray, and the wafers as well. I buy several plastic tubs with lids from WalMart, and place 2-3 fresh earth wafers and 1 acorn scent wafer in each; then after washing hunting clothes, place them in the containers until the hunt. Can't say that I've had much success though when deer are within smelling range. Sometimes the deer cannot smell me, but oftentimes they're blowing like there's no tomorrow (my theory is that it's the CLP on my gun). If the wind is again' ya, it doesn't matter much what scent you have on. I actually bought some fox urine scent recently, but I smelled it and its so nasty that I'm not going to use it unless I've been in the woods 3-4 days without a shower and thus view it as a necessary evil.
