Does slow cycle make normal 870 jam?

Snap cap rounds tend to differ quite a bit dimensionally from real ammo and shouldn't be relied on for function testing. Still, regardless, you've got to work the slide a bit to get a good eject from an 870.

I doubt very much that you will have problem with real ammo and pumping in a normal fashion. 870s are made to pump and like it:)

This is normal when you have a new gun, and are bored sitting around watching several football games that aren't even close, and are fiddling with it to see what you can make go wrong. If it works fine with real ammo and at normal cycling speed it is fine.

As above, snap caps are just that, snap caps and nothing more.

If you want to do function tests, buy action proving dummies.
These are the exact size, shape, weight, and balance of live ammo:

A pump shotgun should operate correctly no matter if you ease the action open and closed or if you slam it.
Ejection may not be a vigorous operated slowly, but shell release timing, feed, and extraction should be the same.

Funny we are talking about snap caps but I use them just to drop the hammer on my M12s. Today I opened one of them because I was going out to shoot it and the rim of the snap cap broke off and the rest of the cap dropped on into the chamber. Had to get a cleaning rod out to push it out. junk crap!:cuss:

help please

anyone know where i can find a new plastic thinglie found on the spring inside ammo chamber on 870's 12 pistol grip shotgun

I will try to translate:

anyone know where i can find a new plastic thinglie found on the spring inside ammo chamber on 870's 12 pistol grip shotgun

I think means:

anyone know where I can find a new follower found on the magazine spring inside the magazine on 870s 12 pistol grip shotgun

But I could be mistaken...

That would have been my hunch. If that's right...the answer is: don't. Buy an aluminum or stainless or aftermarket Delrin follower that won't fail the way the original part did.

don't use snap caps for cycle-testing. They are for trigger testing. You can cycle test with the safety on using live ammo. Keep the muzzle pointed in safe direction (outdoors)

Yes. Does with mine, right outta the box. I discovered this tendency when I first took my wife to the range with it. She was tentative and slow; causing it to jam. It concerned me at first. Rack it quickly and with authority. You will WTSHTF any way.

My Benelli hates snap-caps. Fails to feed or eject properly 5 times out of 10. But it has never missed a step with real ammo.

Pardner pump moss 500 moss 590 and prob all pumps. <Non THR Comment>

My instructor told me that you're supposed to work a pump like the rugged machine it is, don't princess stroke it.

I've found that ANY gun cycled slowly greatly increases the chances of problems.

Check the shell holder rails to make sure they are extending enough to prevent the shell from exiting the tube early. After many years or a lot of rounds they will start to retain some memory and require a slight tweaking to bring them back out a smidge.
