Does Springfield Armory have a good name.

Good products but I would probably go out of my way to buy more 1911's if they were still made in the US. I know there’s nothing wrong with the ones from Brazil, just one of those things I guess.

The only problem I can say is that I bought a mil-spec 1911 and it had an incorrect recoil spring in it. I took it to a 1911 gunsmith and he showed me the correct spring it was supposed to have. I think it was 3 or 4 coils shorter. I only noticed that something was wrong when I put a recoil buffer in and after 25 rounds it was chewed up. Good sign something is wrong.

The spring that was in my gun was supposed to be for a 9mm, I think.

I was thinking that same thing Dan Crocker!! I thought Cannonball was a weirdo for posting and then answering his own post.

I like Springfield Armory a lot. Maybe I'm not a high-end guy but I think their stuff is well-made and I like it. The one time I had a problem (last year, had a broken hammer strut on a used 1911 I bought from the original owner), their customer service was awesome, they emailed me the overnight shipping labels to send it to them on their dime, and they fixed it quickly.

I think they have good products but their customer service is what really sold me on them. Since then I've bought three more SA firearms and have been very pleased with those, too.

good company. good products and good value. excellent warranty service.
There have been some times when there were some QC problems, probably growing pains, but all in all good.
In 1988 I was at Camp Perry getting my M1a SuperMatch inspected and certified by a match armoror (Navy) and as he checked my perfect trigger he asked me, "Is it a good shooter?"
me, "Yes. Very good, why?"
him, "We have a saying. Springfield Armory makes the best rifles on the line- they also make the worst."
I think SA has worked well past those days and stands behind every product.
