Distance: About 70 yards
Rifle: .50 caliber ML
Powder: .120 grains of Black MZ
Bullet: .250 grain SST in crush rib sabot.
Went to the lease today and set the hog traps. Hung around in the blind afterward. There are two large pecan trees about 60 yards in front of the blind. Was hoping the big bunch of juvenile boars would come so i could try a double. Instead eight larger boars came in about 20-25 minutes after sunset.
As they ate pecans i watched for two hogs to line up. Finally the black boar in the picture came up alongside the smaller boar. i fired: After the smoke cleared both hogs were flopping around on the ground. The smaller hog lay still and the black boar flopped out of sight. Reloaded my rifle and carefully approached. Hogs were lying about ten feet apart-dead.
Bullet went through both shoulders of the black hog and hit the other hog.
Maybe the hog shooting dry spell has ended.
